This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to effectively operate as part of an emergency control organization (ECO) during an emergency situation within the workplace. Participants will learn the roles and responsibilities of an ECO member, emergency response procedures, and how to effectively communicate and coordinate during an emergency.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of an emergency control organization (ECO) member and control organization leader.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency response procedures, including evacuation, emergency first aid, and fire suppression.
  • Communicate effectively with emergency response teams and relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other ECO members and emergency services to ensure a timely and effective response.
  • Coordinate and lead emergency response efforts.
  • Develop emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Manage resources and allocate tasks during emergency incidents.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of personnel and the public.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response actions and implement improvements.

    This unit applies to those working in operational roles across various industries, including construction, mining, and utilities.

    The total duration of Issue Work Permit is a comprehensive 4 hours

    Face to face, blended or on-site by experienced trainers with relevant industry experience either at of our training centres located in:

    PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation.

    PUAFER006 – Lead an emergency control organisation.

    No formal pre-requisites required. However, participants should have basic literacy and numeracy skills.

    Participants should possess basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills to ensure they can comprehend training materials and instructions effectively.

    Participants will be assessed through:

      • Written assessments to test knowledge of legislative requirements, procedures, and communication protocols.
      • Practical assessments based on simulated emergency scenarios to demonstrate response skills and coordination abilities.
      • Observation of participant’s performance during role-playing exercises and practical drills.

    Upon successful completion of the course and assessment requirements, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency PUAFER005 – Operate as part of an emergency control organisation.
