This GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) Initial course is designed for wind turbine technicians, safety officers, and other professionals working in the wind energy sector who are involved in or responsible for managing and executing rescue operations.

For individuals who have already completed the initial training, the GWO ART Refresher course is available to help maintain and update rescue skills in line with industry standards.

These roles will be enhanced by the skills learned in this GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) Initial course, offering participants new career paths and advancement opportunities within the renewable energy sector.

The total duration of the Global Wind Organisation Combined Advanced Rescue Training (ART) Initial is three days, involving 21 hours of intensive, hands-on training. This timeframe is designed to provide thorough exposure to both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for emergency situations.

The GWO Advanced Rescue Initial Course is delivered face to face by experienced trainers with relevant industry experience either at of our training centres located in:

Skylar Education (RTO Number 21647) includes the following relevant unit of competencies as part of the training within the timeframe and at no additional cost.

  • PUASAR032 — Undertake Vertical Rescue

Prior completion of the GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) is required, ensuring that all participants have foundational knowledge and skills before advancing to more complex rescue techniques.

To enrol in the GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) Initial course, participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Participants must hold a valid/ current WINDA training record for GWO BST, Working at Heights Module, GWO BST First Aid and GWO BST Manual Handling for participation.
  • All course participants shall conform to any GWO prerequisites for the specific standard and modules as well as personal legal obligations.
  • The course participants shall be medically fit, appear well-rested and be capable of fully participating showing no signs of fatigue, substance abuse or sickness.
  • If there is any doubt regarding the medical fitness or ability to fully participate safely of any course participant, the training provider shall stop training the course participant, and refer to the course participant’s immediate manager or seek a physician’s advice in so far as this is permitted by applicable legislation.
  • Be wearing long pants and work boots (all other PPE are provided)

Participants should possess basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills to ensure they can comprehend training materials and instructions effectively.

Participants  of the GWO ART Initial course are assessed through a combination of practical tests and written exams, designed to evaluate their understanding and proficiency in advanced rescue techniques.

Upon successful completion of GWO ART Initial training, Skylar Education:

  • Uploads the individual student record (completed modules) into to WINDA database. Generally, within 24 hours of the completion of the training.
  • Issue students with Statement of Attainment for the relevant unit of competencies.
  • Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (HSIBR) – 24 Months
  • Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (NTBR) – 24 Months
  • Single Rescue: Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (SR:HSIBR) – No Expiry
  • Single Rescue: Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (SR:NTBR) – No Expiry
