Conduct Routine Inspection & Testing of Fire Extinguisher & Fire Blankets overview

The CPPFES2020 Conduct Routine Inspection and Testing of Fire Extinguishers and Fire Blankets course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to inspect, test, and maintain fire extinguishers and fire blankets in accordance with Australian Standards and regulatory requirements. Participants will learn how to identify different types of extinguishers and fire blankets, perform routine checks, and ensure they are operational and compliant.

Course Outline:

  • Regular inspection and testing of fire extinguishers, in accordance with Australian Standards, including: water, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, wet chemical, foam
  • 6 monthly and annual inspection and testing of fire blankets in accordance with Australian Standards
  • Maintenance tag updating and recording
  • Tools and equipment
  • Managing faulty equipment
  • Identifying and documenting of non-compliances
  • All information to be recorded in a post-course assessment package.

This course consists of a comprehensive 6-hours face-to-face training session, including breaks and assessments, along with approximately 6 hours of self-paced pre-learning to be completed in advance.

There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, but basic literacy and numeracy skills are required.

Participants should possess basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills to ensure they can comprehend training materials and instructions effectively.

Assessment for this course will include written assessments, practical demonstrations, and observations of participant performance during practical exercises.

On successful completion, a Statement of Attainment containing the following units of competency will be awarded to students who have been deemed competent in the training & assessment.

  • Long pants and work boots suitable for practical activities
  • Laptop or tablet is recommended for digital assessments (mobile phones may be used too)
