- Performing chest compressions on adults, children, and infants
- Providing rescue breaths
- Utilizing barrier devices during CPR
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Understanding the purpose and function of an AED
- Applying AED pads correctly
- Following AED prompts and instructions
- Post-CPR Procedures
- Handover to medical professionals

This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

The total duration of CPR is a comprehensive 4 hours (including assessment)

Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN)
Participants should possess basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills to ensure they can comprehend training materials and instructions effectively.
Assessment
- Practical demonstration of CPR techniques
- Use of an AED
- Written test covering theoretical knowledge
Certification/Training Record
Upon successful completion of the course:
- Participants will receive a nationally recognized Statement of Attainment for HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- Certification is valid for 12 months, after which a refresher course is recommended
