GWO Basic Technical Training (BTT) overview

The Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Technical Training (BTT) course is an internationally recognised program that provides participants with the essential technical knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness required to carry out basic service and maintenance tasks on wind turbines both onshore and offshore.

Developed in collaboration with leading wind turbine manufacturers and operators, the GWO BTT standard ensures that all technicians across the global wind industry work to the same high level of safety, quality, and technical competence.

The training focuses on building a solid foundation in mechanical, hydraulic, and bolt-tightening systems, enabling participants to understand how the different components of a wind turbine interact and operate. It also emphasises correct use of tools, adherence to safety protocols, and the importance of precision and compliance in technical work.

What does it cover?

Our BTT course includes the following modules:

  1. Mechanical
  2. Bolt Tightening
  3. Hydraulics

By completing this course, you’ll gain the baseline technical knowledge required for further advanced training or specialised roles in the global wind industry.

This course is a Global Wind Organisation (GWO) accredited training program. It is not nationally recognised training under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
