The GWO Advanced Rescue Refresher training is a program designed to refresh and update the skills and knowledge of individuals who have previously completed the GWO Advanced Rescue Training. This training is specifically tailored for personnel working in the wind industry who may be required to perform advanced rescue operations in challenging environments such as wind turbines.

What does it cover?

The Global Wind Organisation Combined Advanced Rescue Training (ART) – Refresher is divided into the following 2 modules:

  • Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Refresher
  • Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue Refresher

As well as:

  • GWO BST Working at Heights Refresher (WAHR)
  • GWO BST Manual Handling Refresher (MHR)

The total duration of the Global Wind Organisation Combined Advanced Rescue Training (ART) – Refresher is over three full days, this comprehensive refresher covers both practical and theoretical aspects of advanced wind turbine rescue operations.

Global Wind Organisation Combined Advanced Rescue Training (ART) – Refresher is delivered face to face by experienced trainers with relevant industry experience either at of our training centres located in:

Skylar Education (RTO Number 21647) includes the following relevant unit of competencies as part of the training within the timeframe and at no additional cost.

  • PUASAR022 – Participate in Rescue Operations
  • PUASAR032 – Undertake Vertical Rescue
  • RIIWHS204E – Work Safely at Heights
  • HLTWHS005 – Conduct manual Tasks Safely

Prior completion of the GWO Basic Safety Training (BST) is required, ensuring that all participants have foundational knowledge and skills before advancing to more complex rescue techniques.

  • Participants must hold a valid GWO ART – Nacelle, Tower & Basement Rescue Module; GWO BST Working at Heights; GWO BST First Aid and GWO BST Manual Handling certificates to participate in ARTR.
  • All course participants shall conform to any GWO prerequisites for the specific standard and modules as well as personal legal obligations.
  • The course participants shall be medically fit, appear well-rested and be capable of fully participating showing no signs of fatigue, substance abuse or sickness.
  • If there is any doubt regarding the medical fitness or ability to fully participate safely of any course participant, the training provider shall stop training the course participant, and refer to the course participant’s immediate manager or seek a physician’s advice in so far as this is permitted by applicable legislation.
  • Be wearing long pants and work boots (all other PPE are provided)

Participants should possess basic language, literacy, and numeracy skills to ensure they can comprehend training materials and instructions effectively.

Participants are assessed through a combination of practical tests and written exams, designed to evaluate their understanding and proficiency in advanced rescue techniques.

Upon successful completion of GWO BST Refresher training, Skylar Education:

  • Uploads the individual student record (completed modules) into to WINDA database. Generally, within 24 hours of the completion of the training.
  • Issue students with Statement of Attainment for the relevant unit of competencies.
  • Hub, Spinner and Inside Blade Rescue (HSIBR) – 24 Months
  • Nacelle, Tower and Basement Rescue (NTBR) – 24 Months
  • Working at Heights Refresher (WAHR) – 24 Months
  • Manual Handling Refresher (MHR) – 24 Months
